Hands-On CF9 ORM Training

Learn what you need to know.

You've heard the buzz about ColdFusion 9's ORM integration but may be wondering how to get started using it in your applications. Here's your opportunity to learn all about it from two seasoned ColdFusion veterans, Mark Mandel and Bob Silverberg.

This comprehensive two-day workshop will cover what you need to know to get up and running using ColdFusion 9's ORM features in your next project. Through interactive learning and hands-on labs, we'll start with the basics, continuing through building two complete working applications. Along the way we'll discuss best practices and potential pitfalls of this powerful new technology.

So hands-on your fingers will hurt.

You've been to so-called "hands-on" courses before where the instructor rambles on and on and you only get to touch your keyboard when there's a break for an exercise. Not at this workshop! You'll be writing code virtually non-stop. As we explain the concepts we'll walk through examples that you'll code right along with the instuctors. Then you'll get a chance, right away, to apply the concept to your own project that will grow from a simple application to a complex beast over the course of the two days.

Not only will you retain more of the knowledge you acquire by practising it right away, you'll also go home with plenty of working code examples that you can bring into your future projects. You can even use the examples to teach the concepts to your colleagues.

Isn't ORM hard?

Some of the concepts that you'll be learning can be a bit difficult to wrap your head around at first, but that's why Mark and Bob are there. With constant access to developers experienced with ColdFusion ORMs in real-world applications, who also happen to be excellent teachers, hard will become easy.

And with two whole days devoted to learning, there will be plenty of time for questions, and we'll even be able to go off on a tangent or two when interesting questions which might go beyond the scope of the syllabus are raised.

Am I ready for this?

Are you ready to learn? Are you ready to become a CF9 ORM ninja? Then you're ready! No previous knowledge of ORMs or Object Oriented programming is required, but a basic knowledge of CFCs would be helpful.

When and where is it?

The workshop is running as a pre-conference training session at cf.Objective(). It will be held on April 20 - 21, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis, MN.

The workshop will be scheduled to run again on different dates at different locations. If you're interested in being informed of future dates as they're announced, please let us know.

How do I sign up?

You can register for the training via cf.Objective()'s registration form. Note that you do not have to attend the conference in order to sign up for the CF ORM training.
